<h1><strong><span style="background-color: #18508b; color: #ffffff; display: block; font-family: 'Courier New',Courier,monospace; font-size: 130%; text-align: left;">Neurosignaling</span></strong></h1> <img src="http://images.the-scientist.com/content/figures/0890-3670-051107-24-1-1.jpg" alt="" title="" style="height: 423px; width: 200px;" align="left" /><br /> <em>By Stephen P. Moss.</em><br /> <br /> <span style="font-family: 'Arial Black',Gadget,sans-serif; font-size: 132%;">What is neurosignaling?</span><br /> <span style="font-size: 120%;">Neurosignaling is a science that aims to perfect the use of <a class="wiki_link_ext" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain-computer_interface" rel="nofollow">brain-computer interfaces (BCIs)</a> in order to <strong>manipulate computer-controlled devices using the human brain</strong>. These BCIs "read" brainwaves through <a class="wiki_link_ext" href="http://dictionary.babylon.com/electroencephalography" rel="nofollow">EEG</a> (<a class="wiki_link_ext" href="http://dictionary.babylon.com/electroencephalography" rel="nofollow">electroencephalography</a>) in order to create an interface that allows command of the desired device through the mind (<a class="wiki_link" href="/References">Nguyen, 2007</a>).</span><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size: 120%;"> Though a new science, <strong>neurosignaling has offered new hopes for people</strong> with severe paralysis such as <a class="wiki_link_ext" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amyotrophic_lateral_sclerosis" rel="nofollow">amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)</a>, brainstem strokes, severe cerebral palsy, and etc. Because this technology implements brain signals rather than muscles for communication and control, the convenience and usability <strong>allow virtually anyone to control anything that implements a BCI</strong> (<a class="wiki_link" href="/References">Crowley, 2008</a>).</span><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size: 120%;"> Furthermore, there is much hope in the scientific community that this technology will <strong>allow recuperation for people that lost their sight and hearing as well</strong> (<a class="wiki_link" href="/References">Kalaska, 2008</a>). As you will read later on, there are already cases of people regaining their previous senses.</span><br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <span style="background-color: #ffffff; color: #000000; display: block; font-family: 'Courier New',Courier,monospace; font-size: 120%; text-align: right;"> <a class="wiki_link" href="/Development">Go To "Development</a></span>
